Heading South on the Grand Union from Warwick
Day 46 - 7 miles and 6 locks
We had left our boat berthed at the end of the Saltisford Trust Arm in Warwick - this while returning to Staffs and Cheshire for family celebrations of my sister's 60th and Retirement and Chris' Mum's 80th.
We had great weather for both and a great time!
My brother gave us a lift back down the M40, joined by our son, Dan and Granddaughter, Poppy. They were joining us for a week of boating.
The first task was to get gas and do the pump out - here reversing out of the Arm
Still reversing, swinging away from the entrance to the Saltisford Arm
The day started wet - here Dan does his first lock wheeling since his last journey with us a couple of years ago
Looking back at Dan and Poppy on the footbridge over the original single lock - now the byweir. We have passed Lemington Spa (stopped for a brief look round) and are now climbing up the Grand Union to Napton Junction
Poppy soon learns the lock wheeling routine - screw paddle gear and a long handed lock handle helps!
Locking up with Kate Boats hirers - we used the middle rope to pull the boat over when we went in first
