Pelsall Canal Festival – Day 2

Summer Cruise 2013 – Sun16th June
Day 12: Moored at Pelsall Works Bridge

Our second day here was a fine, often sunny day.
I walked over the north common to photograph the flowers seen on my jog yesterday.

A lovely flower - what is it?

Down at the festival field, there were some historic cars. This one caught my eye!

There were a number of historic working boats in the Cannock Extension Canal.

I had a wander and spoke to the skipper on nb Swallow – he was running it's engine, a National 2DM, the fore-runner to the Lister 2JP.

At the beer tent, I met boaters in the Allen Register (the Society for owners of Les Allen boats). One of them had vivid memories of our boat when originally built – more of that in a future 'history' blog when the details are recorded.

Stern counter of a Les Allen boat - note the round tiller cap!
